Why an ASKO Wine Cabinet Is Not Holding Its Temperature

A wine cabinet that drifts warm or cold puts a collection at risk. Here is what to check at home and when the cooling system needs a visit.

Most temperature drift comes from airflow, door seals or a warm room, not from a failed cooling system. Check these first, because they are quick to fix and they also protect the compressor.

Check at Home

  1. Make sure the set temperature has not been changed by accident.
  2. Leave a few inches of clearance around the cabinet, especially at the top and sides.
  3. Keep bottles off the back wall so air can move.
  4. Shut the door on a strip of paper. If you can pull it out with no resistance, the seal is tired.
  5. Clean any dust off the vents and condenser area, with the power off.

What the Signs Mean

A cabinet that stays warm while the fan is turning may have a cooling problem. A cabinet that is cold at the back and warm at the front often has a fan or airflow issue. Moisture on the glass and labels points to humidity getting in at the door.

What We Cannot Tell From Home

A warm cabinet can come from the sealed system, a fan, a sensor or a control, and each needs a different repair. If bottles are worth protecting, move them to a cool place while the cabinet is checked.

Houston garages and utility rooms get hot in summer, and an older cabinet works harder there. We tell you honestly whether repair is worthwhile at 10 to 20 years. See our wine cabinet repair page.

Avoid moving the temperature dial back and forth while you wait. Each change starts a new cooling cycle, and the cabinet takes hours to settle. Set it once, leave it alone, and write down the reading after a few hours so we can see what really happened.

To get the cooling tested, call us or fill out the online form, and we will confirm a three-hour arrival window.

Tell us the model and the code. We will bring the part.
