Caring for an Older ASKO Drying Cabinet

A drying cabinet is gentle on delicate clothing, and simple care keeps it working for many years. Here is a short routine for owners.

An ASKO drying cabinet needs less attention than a tumble dryer, but filters, vents and rails still need regular care. A few minutes each month keeps airflow clear and helps an older unit last.

After Each Use

  • Clean the lint filter.
  • Leave the door slightly open so moisture escapes.

Each Month

  1. Wash the filter in warm water and let it dry fully.
  2. Wipe the inside of the cabinet and the hanging rails with a damp cloth.
  3. Check the vent hose behind the unit for kinks, sagging or lint.
  4. Empty any condensate tray or reservoir, if your model has one.

Each Year

Clean the whole vent path to the outside, since a long vent collects lint and heat. Check that the cabinet sits level and that the door seal is soft and closes fully, because a leaking seal lets damp room air back in.

When Care Is Not Enough

A cabinet that was kept well can still lose heat as parts age. If drying times grow, odors appear or the door no longer seals, a visit finds the cause. We read the label, test the heat and fan, and tell you in writing what a repair costs before we begin. Repairs come with a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Details are on our drying cabinet repair page.

Keep the cabinet away from piled boxes and storage, and leave room around its vent. A drying cabinet works by moving air, so crowding it from behind leads to longer cycles and more moisture in the room, especially in a humid Houston home.
