What E1 means

E1 on an ASKO Professional TDC1773VF.S or TDC1773VP.S dryer is read as a thermistor error, which means a temperature sensor problem. These TDC1773 models are sold in the US for multifamily and light commercial laundry rooms. The control watches drum and air temperature through thermistors, and E1 appears when a reading is missing or out of range. You may also see E1.1, E1.2 or E1.3, which narrow down which sensor circuit is involved.

Common causes of E1

  • A thermistor with a reading out of range
  • A loose or corroded sensor connector
  • Damaged wiring between the sensor and the control
  • The control board reading the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Let the dryer cool completely, then clean the lint screen. 2. Check that the outside vent hood flaps open freely and the vent is not crushed behind the dryer. 3. Start one new cycle. 4. If E1, E1.1, E1.2 or E1.3 returns, stop using the dryer and note the exact code for us.

! Why to stop there
  • Which of the sensor circuits E1.1, E1.2 or E1.3 is involved
  • Whether the sensor, its wiring or the control reads wrong
  • Whether a vent restriction is overheating the dryer and tripping the reading
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E1E1 questions
Is E1 the same as E1.1 or E1.2?

They belong to the same thermistor group. The number after the dot tells us which sensor circuit is reporting a problem, so write down exactly what the display shows when you call.

Can a clogged vent cause E1?

A restricted vent can overheat a dryer, and heat can push a sensor reading out of range. We check the vent path along with the sensor, because fixing one without the other brings the code back.

Do you repair commercial-grade dryers?

Yes, including ASKO Professional models in apartment laundry rooms. Call us or use the online form, and we will confirm a three-hour arrival window and quote in writing first.
