What E8 means
E8 on an ASKO Professional TDC1773 dryer is read as a button failure, one of the control unit messages. The TDC1773 is a commercial-grade ASKO Professional dryer sold in the US for multifamily and light commercial laundry rooms. The control senses that a key on the panel is stuck, pressed continuously, or not reading correctly. You may notice that the dryer will not accept a program, starts by itself, or shows E8 as soon as it powers up.
Common causes of E8
- A button on the panel stuck down
- Moisture or detergent residue under the keypad
- A worn or damaged keypad membrane
- The user interface board behind the buttons
1. Turn the dryer off. 2. Wipe the panel with a dry cloth and look for a button that sits lower than the rest. 3. Turn the dryer back on without touching the panel for a few seconds. 4. If E8 returns, stop using it. Do not pry at the panel or spray cleaner onto the keys.
- Whether a single key is stuck or the whole keypad is reading wrong
- Whether moisture has reached the board behind the panel
- Whether the interface board can be repaired or needs replacing

What does E8 tell me about the buttons?
The control believes a key is being held down or is not behaving normally. It may be a real stuck button, but a damaged keypad or interface board can send the same signal.
Is it all right to clean the panel with spray cleaner?
Avoid it. Liquid can run behind the keypad and damage the board. A dry or very lightly damp cloth is enough for the surface.
