What THERMISTOR means

The word THERMISTOR on the screen of an ASKO T761 or T781 dryer with the LCD display, or of a TD70.2 or TD70.3 such as the T743C or T753C, refers to the temperature sensor in the airflow. On the T761 and T781, the answer is to call a technician. On the TD70.2 and TD70.3, the sensor circuit is open or the sensor itself is working incorrectly. Either way the control loses track of the drying heat.

Common causes of THERMISTOR

  • A thermistor that gives no reading or a wrong one
  • An open circuit in the thermistor wiring or connector
  • The control board that reads the temperature signal
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Cut the power for about a minute, then restore it. 2. Clean the lint filter and make sure the vent is not crushed. 3. Run a short program to see if the word reappears. 4. If it does, keep the dryer idle and book a visit. Please leave all panels in place.

! Why to stop there
  • Whether the sensor itself or the wiring to it is the open part
  • Whether the control board interprets the sensor signal properly
  • Whether the replacement part is available for your older model
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
THERMISTORTHERMISTOR questions
What does THERMISTOR mean?

It means the dryer cannot get a usable reading from its temperature sensor. On the TD70.2 and TD70.3 the circuit is open or the sensor is working incorrectly, and the control ends the cycle.

Can I replace the thermistor myself?

We do not recommend it. The sensor sits inside the dryer, so reaching it means opening panels near the heater wiring. We test the circuit first and give you a written price.

Is an older T761 or T781 worth fixing?

Often it is, and we give you an honest answer if it is not. Older parts can be scarce, so we check availability first. For a repair visit, call us or use the online form. We give you a price in writing before we start and stand behind the work with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
