What F29 means

Heat-pump versions of the TD70.1 dryers from ASKO, the ones with the type B LCD panel like the T743C and T753C, can show F29. The owner's manual prints no cause, but it points to the evaporator, the coil that pulls moisture out of the warm air. When lint builds up on the evaporator filter, which has a net layer and a foam layer, or on the evaporator itself, drying slows down and the dryer stops the cycle.

Common causes of F29

  • Lint caught in the net and foam layers of the evaporator filter
  • Dust or lint coating the evaporator itself
  • Poor airflow in the room or around the dryer
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Use the main switch to turn the dryer off, and let it cool. 2. Take out the evaporator filter and clean both the net and the foam, as the owner's manual describes. 3. Clean the evaporator with a light touch, following the same instructions. 4. Turn the main switch back on and restart the program. If F29 returns, schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • How much lint is packed deeper than you can reach
  • Whether the heat-pump circuit is cooling the air as it should
  • Whether a condensation or airflow part is behind the slow drying
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F29F29 questions
What does the evaporator do in a heat-pump dryer?

It is a coil that cools the damp air so the moisture turns to water. Lint on it blocks the air and slows drying. F29 asks you to clean the evaporator filter and the evaporator.

How do I reset F29?

Switching the dryer off at the main switch clears the message. It comes back if the evaporator or its filter is still clogged, so clean them first.
