What E2 means
An ASKO W5 series washer such as the W5114RXLW shows E2 when the washer cannot confirm that the door is closed and locked. The program will not start, or it stops, and the door may stay shut or refuse to latch. The lock resets after the power is switched off and on, which is why the manual gives that step first.
Common causes of E2
- Door not fully closed or the catch out of line
- Door lock and its switch
- Wiring at the lock
- Control signal to the lock
1. Check that the door is closed all the way. 2. Switch the washer off and on, then wait about 10 seconds for the lock to reset. 3. If the door cannot be closed or opened, follow the manual door-opening procedure in the owner's manual. 4. If E2 returns, schedule service.
- If the reset works only once, the lock keeps failing to confirm, and we test the lock and its wiring
- The control that watches the lock is checked separately, so we do not replace a good lock
- The price is written down first, and 30 days of workmanship warranty cover the repair
Other Washer codes
My ASKO washer will not start and shows E2. Why?
It is a door lock error. The washer cannot confirm that the door is shut and locked, so it will not start the program.
How long do I wait after switching it off?
The manual suggests about 10 seconds for the lock to reset before you switch the washer on again. Then close the door and try the program once more.
What if the door will not open?
The owner's manual has a manual door-opening procedure for that case. Follow it carefully, and if the door sticks again afterward, have the lock checked.
