What E22 means
E22 or E22.1 appears on the display of a W5114RXLW or another ASKO W5 series washer when the door is closed but the washer cannot lock it. Because the lock must engage before the washer fills, the program stops at the start or soon after. The door looks shut, yet the machine behaves as if it were open.
Common causes of E22
- Door lock that does not engage
- Door catch or hinge alignment
- Lock wiring and connector
- Control command to the lock
1. Switch the washer off, then on again. 2. Close the door firmly and restart the program. 3. If E22 or E22.1 returns, stop using the washer and schedule service, since the owner's manual calls for a technician.
- A door that closes but will not lock can come from the lock, the catch or the wiring, and we test each in turn
- We check whether the lock receives its command before we call it a bad part
- Any part is confirmed and priced in writing before work, and our work has a 30-day warranty

What is the difference between E22 and E2?
E2 is a general door lock error. E22 is more specific: the door is closed, but the washer cannot lock it.
What is E22.1?
It is a variant of E22 and has the same meaning. The same restart steps apply, and if it returns, the lock needs testing.
Should I force the door to make it lock?
No. Pushing harder will not help and can bend the catch. Close it normally, restart once, and call us if the code stays.
Still seeing E22?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
