What E36 means
Inside an ASKO W5 series washer such as the W5114RXLW, code E36 means the two electronic units inside the washer have stopped talking to each other. One is the user interface behind the display and buttons, and the other is the main control unit that drives the motor, valves and pump. The washer may freeze, ignore the buttons, or stop the program with the code on the screen.
Common causes of E36
- Loose or damaged cable between the display unit and the main control
- Display unit or main control unit that has lost its signal
- Power interruption during startup that left the units out of step
1. Switch the washer off at the control, pause briefly, and switch it back on. 2. Start a short program and watch whether E36 returns. 3. If it does, leave the washer idle and schedule service; the owner's manual lists a technician call for this code.
- The code does not say whether the display unit, the main control or the link between them is to blame
- We test the cable connection and the signal first, so you are not billed for a part you do not need
- We send a written price before any board is ordered, and our work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty
Other Washer codes
What does E36 on my ASKO washer tell me?
The display unit and the main control unit lost contact with each other. A program needs both, so the washer halts and keeps the code on screen.
Will turning it off and on fix E36?
Sometimes. A brief power interruption can leave the units out of step, and a restart puts them back in sync. If E36 returns, the problem is in the units or the link between them.
Is E36 caused by a power surge?
A surge can upset the electronics, but the code alone does not prove it. We test the control units and the connection to find out what changed.
Still seeing E36?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
