What E9 / E9.1 means

Across ASKO W5 series washers such as the W5114RXLW, code E9 or E9.1 means the washer has detected water where it should not be, in the washing machine area. The washer stops the program to prevent damage. The cause may be a loose hose connection or a leaking part, but a damp base can also trigger the warning when no water is escaping.

Common causes of E9 / E9.1

  • Loose or worn inlet or drain hose connection
  • Leak from the door seal, pump or filter cap
  • Water collected in the base of the washer
  • Leak sensor reading wrongly
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the washer off and on. 2. Look over the outside of the washer and the floor for water. 3. If you find none, you can keep using the washer. 4. If you find water, close the water valve, check the drain hose connection, and schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • If we find water, we trace where it enters before choosing a repair
  • If we find none, we test the leak sensor itself, because a wrong reading can stop good loads
  • Our price is written down before any repair, and the work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E9 / E9.1E9 / E9.1 questions
Is E9 a real leak on my ASKO washer?

It means water was detected in the washing machine area. The washer stops the program so a small leak does not spread across your floor.

Is E9.1 different from E9?

It is a variant of the same leak warning. The steps are the same: restart, inspect for water, and close the water valve if you find any.

Can I keep using the washer after E9?

If you restart it and find no water on the outside or the floor, the owner's manual says you can keep using it. If you find water, close the valve and call us.
