What E6 means

With an ASKO W5 series washer such as the W5114RXLW, code E6 means the washer has a water heating problem. The water in the drum does not reach the temperature the program asks for, or the heating circuit does not respond as expected. The program may stop, or clothes may be washed in cooler water than selected. The code appears on the display until you restart.

Common causes of E6

  • Heating element in the tub
  • Temperature sensor that reports the water heat
  • Wiring and connectors to the heater
  • Control relay that powers the heater
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Restart the program and watch whether the code returns. 2. Check that hot water reaches the washer if your setup uses a hot supply. 3. Try a cooler program for urgent laundry. 4. If E6 reoccurs, schedule service, because the owner's manual says to call a service technician.

! Why to stop there
  • The code does not say which of the heater, the sensor or the control is the cause, so we test each one
  • We measure whether the water actually heats before we replace any part
  • You see the written price before we start, and the repair is covered by a 30-day workmanship warranty
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E6E6 questions
Why is my ASKO washer not heating water, with E6?

It is a water heating error. The washer could not warm the water the way the program required, so it stopped or flagged the problem.

Can I still wash on a cold program?

Possibly, since a cold program needs no heating. If E6 returns even then, the sensor or the control is involved, and the washer should be checked.

Is E6 the same as E1?

No. E1 points to the temperature sensor reading or cold inlet water. E6 points to the heating itself. Both can happen together, so we check the sensor and the heater.
