What WASH MOTOR FAULT means
Your older ASKO W6641 or W6661 prints a wash motor message on the LCD when the motor that turns the drum does not respond as the program asks. The drum may not turn, may stall, or may turn unevenly. The washer stops with water and wet laundry inside. Power off or a new program clears the message, but it returns if the motor circuit is still not right.
Common causes of WASH MOTOR FAULT
- Motor or its brushes and winding
- Wiring and connector at the motor
- Motor control circuit
- Drum that does not turn freely, or a load that is too heavy
1. Turn the power off to clear the message. 2. Open the door once the washer has stopped and check that the clothes are not packed in or twisted together. 3. Restart a program. 4. If the message returns, schedule service, as the owner's manual recommends a service technician.
- One good restart proves little, so the motor and its control are tested separately
- We turn the drum by hand to see whether something other than the motor is holding it
- Because the washer is older, we confirm the motor is available first and say plainly if the repair is not worth it

What does the wash motor message mean on my ASKO washer?
The motor that turns the drum did not respond as the program required. The washer stops to protect the motor and prevent damage.
Could a heavy load cause it?
A packed load can strain the motor, so remove some items and try again. If the message comes back with a small load, the motor and its control are what we test next.
Is it worth repairing an older W6641 or W6661 motor?
Often yes, if the motor is available. We confirm the part first, give a written price before work, and say plainly when another repair would cost more than it is worth.
Still seeing WASH MOTOR FAULT?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
