What WATER INLET FAULT means

An older ASKO W6641 or W6661 with the LCD text display prints a water inlet message when too little water enters the drum in the expected time. The program stops with an empty or half-filled drum. The most common cause is outside the washer, a tap that is not fully open, so the tap is the first thing to check.

Common causes of WATER INLET FAULT

  • Water tap partly or fully closed
  • Inlet hose kinked or its screen clogged
  • Low water pressure in the home
  • Inlet valve that does not open
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Make sure the water tap to the washer is fully open. 2. Check that the supply hose is not kinked. 3. Turn the power off, or change the program, to clear the message. 4. Start the program again. 5. If the message returns, schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • With the tap open and the hose clear, the next suspects are the valve and its wires, so those get tested
  • Water pressure at the washer is measured, so a good valve is not replaced for a supply problem
  • As these washers are older, parts are verified up front, and the price is written down before work
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
WATER INLET FAULTWATER INLET FAULT questions
What does the water inlet message mean on an older ASKO washer?

Not enough water reached the drum in the allowed time. The washer stops the program rather than run with too little water.

Is the water tap really the cause?

It often is. A partly closed tap, a kinked hose or a clogged screen can slow the water. Check these before you call, because they are quick and cost nothing.

What if the tap is open and the message returns?

Then the inlet valve or the control may not be opening the supply. We test those, tell you what we find, and give a written price before any repair.
