What FOAMING means
When an older ASKO W6641 or W6661 washer with the LCD text display prints FOAMING, there are too many suds in the drum for the washer to rinse and drain properly. The message points to the amount of detergent or softener, not to a broken part. Many homes still use these older washers, and we repair them when the message keeps returning.
Common causes of FOAMING
- Detergent or softener dose that is larger than the load needs
- Detergent that makes heavy suds in a front-loading washer
- Soap and softener left from earlier loads
1. Run the Rinse program again. 2. For the next load, use less detergent and less softener. 3. Switch to a low-sudsing detergent made for front-loading washers. 4. Turn the power off or change the program to clear the message.
- If FOAMING comes back with a small dose of low-sudsing detergent, we test the water level sensor and the drain path
- Foam can hide a slow drain, so we watch a full draining cycle before we decide nothing is wrong
- Because the W6641 and W6661 are older, we confirm any part first and say plainly if a repair is not worth it

What does FOAMING mean on my ASKO washer?
The drum holds too many suds. Foam slows rinsing and can keep the pump from clearing water, so the washer stops and shows the message until you change the program or turn the power off.
How do I get rid of the foam?
Run the Rinse program again. The owner's manual then asks you to use less detergent and softener, and a low-sudsing detergent works best.
Does FOAMING mean the washer is broken?
Usually not. It is a reminder about the detergent amount. If the message returns with small doses, we check the sensors and the drain, with a written price before any work.
Still unsure about FOAMING?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
